Biography
Christopher Nowak is an American production designer and art director. He studied environmental design at Texas A&M University and theatre design at Yale University, where he earned an M.F.A. He began his career as a set designer in regional theatre in the 1970s, including work at Playwrights Horizons and other New York companies, before moving into film as an assistant art director and later production designer.
Nowak’s film credits as production designer include Vampire’s Kiss (1989), My Father the Hero (1994), The Basketball Diaries (1995), The Real Blonde (1997), The X-Files (1998), Find Me Guilty (2006) and Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead (2007). He has also worked as an art director on films such as Coming to America (1988), Parenthood (1989), Green Card (1990) and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995). His television work includes production design on series and pilots in the 1990s and 2000s.
