Biography
CJ Jones (born 29 September 1950) is an American actor. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he is deaf and attended the Missouri School for the Deaf. He has performed in stage productions including a national tour of Children of a Lesser God and appeared in various television series.
Jones is known for his role as Joseph in the film Baby Driver (2017). He created the Na'vi sign language used in Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), in which he appears uncredited. He has also featured in Door in the Woods (2019) and episodes of series including Shameless, Frasier and Cold Case.
Jones was one of the subjects of the documentary See What I'm Saying: The Deaf Entertainers Documentary (2009). He received the SAG-AFTRA Harold Russell Award in 2018 for his performance in Baby Driver.
