Biography
C. J. Vanston is an American film composer, record producer, songwriter and keyboardist. He was born in Denver, Colorado, on 14 August 1956.
Vanston has composed scores for several films directed by Christopher Guest, including Waiting for Guffman (1996), Almost Heroes (1998), Best in Show (2000), A Mighty Wind (2003), For Your Consideration (2006) and Mascots (2016). He has also served as music producer on Spinal Tap II: The End Continues (2025).
In addition to his film work, Vanston has produced, arranged and performed on albums by artists including Toto, Joe Cocker, Def Leppard and Spinal Tap, and has toured as musical director and keyboardist with several acts.
