Biography
Claud Allister, also credited as Claude Allister, was an English actor born William Claud Michael Palmer on 3 October 1888 in London. He made his stage debut in 1910 after working as a stockbroker's clerk, toured in repertory theatre, served in the British Army during the First World War, and moved to the United States in 1924. He appeared in more than seventy films between 1929 and 1955.
His film roles include Cornell in The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933) and Lord Fabian (uncredited) in The Awful Truth (1937). He is also known for voice work as Rat in the Disney films The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949) and The Wind in the Willows (1949), as well as appearances in Dracula's Daughter (1936), Pride and Prejudice (1940) and Kiss Me Kate (1953). Allister died on 26 July 1970 in Santa Barbara, California.
