Biography
Clelia Matania was a British-born Italian actress. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and studied ballet, singing and music. After her family returned to Italy she joined the Arts Theater company directed by Anton Giulio Bragaglia and became a prominent stage performer in the late 1930s and during the war, appearing in prose and revues with actors including Totò and Eduardo De Filippo.
Her film work consisted chiefly of supporting roles as a character actress. She appeared in international productions filmed in Italy, aided by her fluent English, and was also active as a voice actress. Notable screen credits include Don't Look Now (1973) as Wendy, Just Before Nightfall (1971) as Mme Masson, Quo Vadis (1951) and Indiscretion of an American Wife (1953). She was married to the painter Guido Odierna.
