Biography
Coco Chanel, born Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, was a French fashion designer who also worked as a costume designer for several films. She created costumes for Jean Renoir’s The Rules of the Game (1939), credited as La Maison Chanel, as well as Port of Shadows (1938) and The Blood of a Poet (1932).
Chanel began her career as a milliner in the early 1900s and later established a fashion house known for simplified, practical clothing. Her film work included designing for actresses in French productions during the 1930s, adapting her signature styles to cinematic needs.
