Biography
Cody Lightning is a Canadian actor and filmmaker. He was born on 8 August 1986 in Edmonton, Alberta, and is Cree.
Lightning began acting as a child. He played Young Victor Joseph in Smoke Signals (1998) and appeared in The Brave (1997), Manic (2001) and Brick (2005). He received a Young Artist Award nomination for Smoke Signals and won Best Actor at the American Indian Film Festival for Four Sheets to the Wind (2007).
He wrote, directed and starred in the mockumentary Hey, Viktor! (2023), for which he received two Canadian Screen Award nominations. Recent roles include Biscuits in Echo (2024), Micah Tso in Rez Ball (2024) and Waylon in the series The Lowdown (2025). His second feature as director, Smudge the Blades, is scheduled for 2026.
