Biography

Colin Campbell (17 January 1937 – 1 March 2018) was an English actor. He began his career as a child performer, appearing in a BBC radio adaptation of Worzel Gummidge and taking the title role in the 1952 BBC television production of Huckleberry Finn. His stage work included seasons at the Old Vic and with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Campbell's best-known film role was as Reggie in The Leather Boys (1964). He appeared in numerous British television series, including the main role of David Ashton in the ITV drama A Family at War (1970–1972). Later credits include My Beautiful Laundrette (1985), Nuns on the Run (1990) as Norm, and I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle (1990). He continued working into the 2000s, with his final screen appearance in Saxon (2007). His granddaughter is singer Shola Ama.
