Biography
Colin Tierney is a British actor, also credited as Colin David Tierney. Born in 1968 in Liverpool, England, he has appeared in numerous British television dramas and films.
He is known for roles including DC Bobby Harriman in Cracker (1993–94), Alf Lennon in Nowhere Boy (2009), Mungo Mortimer in Midsomer Murders (1997), Luke Shearwood in Vera (2011), Alan Fleming in Foyle's War (2002), Chief Supt Gerry Rydell in DCI Banks (2011), and DI Kevin Morrison in Until I Kill You (2024). Other credits include appearances in Casualty, Endeavour, Mr Bates vs the Post Office (2024) and Lockerbie: A Search for Truth (2025).
Tierney has worked extensively in theatre, with National Theatre credits including productions of Othello and Paul. He has been married to actor Indira Varma since 1996; they have one child.
