Biography

Collin Wilcox Paxton was an American actress who worked in film, television and theatre. She appeared under the names Collin Wilcox, Collin Wilcox-Horne and Collin Wilcox-Paxton.

She is known for her role as Mayella Violet Ewell in the 1962 film To Kill a Mockingbird. Other screen credits include Catch-22 (1970), Jaws 2 (1978), Fluke (1995) and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1997), as well as guest roles in series such as The Twilight Zone, Columbo and Little House on the Prairie.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, she moved to Highlands, North Carolina, as an infant. Her parents helped found the local community theatre, where she began performing. She studied at the University of Tennessee and the Goodman School of Drama, trained at the Actors Studio and made her Broadway debut in 1958.
