Biography
Conrad Nagel, also credited as John Conrad Nagel, was an American actor who worked in film, stage, radio and television. Born in Keokuk, Iowa, he appeared in silent films as a leading man and matinée idol before continuing into sound pictures and later television roles.
He served as Master of Ceremonies in The Hollywood Revue of 1929. Among his other film credits are The Divorcee (1930) and All That Heaven Allows (1955); he also appeared in episodes of Perry Mason (1957) and Gunsmoke (1955), and featured in archive footage in That's Entertainment! (1974). Nagel was a founding member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and served as its president from 1932 to 1933. He received an Honorary Academy Award in 1940.
