Biography
Cristina Camargo is a Brazilian costume designer based in São Paulo. Born in São Paulo in 1967, she graduated in visual communication from the Faculdade Álvares Penteado (FAAP) in 1990. She began her career as a fashion stylist for Elle Brasil magazine and worked in advertising, theatre and commercial films before moving into feature films.
Her first cinema credit was on Foreign Land (1995), directed by Walter Salles. She went on to design costumes for Central Station (1998), also directed by Salles, as well as Carandiru (2003), Lower City (2005) and The Year My Parents Went on Vacation (2006). Later credits include Elis (2016). She has received several award nominations and won Best Costume Designer for Elis in 2017.
