Biography
Daisuke Ryū (also credited as Daisuke Ryû) was a Japanese actor of Korean descent. He was born in Tokyo in 1957 and died on 11 April 2021.
Ryū won the Blue Ribbon Award for best new actor for his performance as Oda Nobunaga in Akira Kurosawa's Kagemusha (1980). He is also known for playing Saburo Naotora Ichimonji in Kurosawa's Ran (1985) and Benkei in Sogo Ishii's Gojoe: Spirit War Chronicle (2000). Other credits include a role in the television serial The Ginger Tree (1989).
He appeared in numerous films and television productions over four decades.
