Biography
Dan Erickson is an American television screenwriter, showrunner and producer. He created the psychological thriller series Severance, which premiered on Apple TV+ in February 2022, and has served as its showrunner and writer.
Erickson was born in Olympia, Washington. He studied at Western Washington University and later earned a master’s degree in dramatic writing with an emphasis on television from New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Before Severance, he wrote for Spike TV’s Lip Sync Battle Pre-Show (2016–2018) and the short film League of Wonder (2011).
His Severance pilot script appeared on the Blood List in 2016 and was developed with Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Productions. The series’ second season premiered in January 2025. Erickson and the Severance writers won Writers Guild of America Awards for Best New Series and Best Drama Series in 2023.
