Biography

Dan Wilcox was an American television writer and producer. He wrote for Sesame Street in its early years and won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1970 for his work on the series. He later contributed to programmes including Good Times, Alice and Roots: The Next Generations.

Wilcox joined the writing staff of MASH in 1979 with his longtime partner Thad Mumford. He wrote or co-wrote 36 episodes across the final four seasons and served as a producer on the last two. He was among the credited writers of the series finale, Goodbye, Farewell and Amen (1983). He also wrote for Newhart, Growing Pains, Diagnosis: Murder, Becker and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman*.

Wilcox received further Emmy nominations for his MASH* work and was awarded the Writers Guild of America West Morgan Cox Award in 2017 for his service to the guild. He died in Los Angeles on 14 February 2024.
