Biography

Dana Kaproff is an American composer born on 24 April 1954 in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of a cellist and nephew of a violinist. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles.

Kaproff has composed music for more than one hundred films, television series and documentaries. His credits include the series Cagney & Lacey (1982), When a Stranger Calls (1979), The Big Red One (1980), Empire of the Ants (1977), Death Valley (1982), When a Stranger Calls Back (1993) and Gringo: The Dangerous Life of John McAfee (2016). He has also worked on Falcon Crest and the Spider-Man television series.

In addition to film and television scoring, Kaproff has composed for documentaries and released recordings as a songwriter and producer. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
