Biography
Daniel Boulanger (24 January 1922 – 27 October 2014) was a French novelist, playwright, poet, screenwriter and occasional actor. Born in Compiègne, Oise, he appeared in supporting roles in several French New Wave films, including as Police Inspector Vital in Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless (1960) and in François Truffaut’s Shoot the Piano Player (1960).
As a screenwriter he contributed dialogue and scenarios to numerous films, among them Cartouche (1962), That Man from Rio (1964), Up to His Ears (1965), King of Hearts (1966), The Thief of Paris (1967) and Police Python 357 (1976). He was elected to the Académie Goncourt in 1983 and served until 2008.
