Biography
Daniel Licht (13 March 1957 – 2 August 2017) was an American composer of film, television and video game scores. Born in Detroit, he studied composition, jazz and world music at Hampshire College after attending the Roeper School and summer courses at Berklee College of Music. He began his career playing jazz in New York with musicians including Don Cherry, performed and composed for theatre and dance companies in Europe, and studied gamelan in Indonesia before moving to Los Angeles to work in film scoring.
Licht scored all eight seasons of the Showtime series Dexter (2006–2013). His other credits include the films Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1992), Necronomicon (1993), Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (1995), Thinner (1996), Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996) and Bad Moon (1996), as well as the television series Body of Proof (2011–2013). He also composed for the video games Silent Hill and Dishonored. Licht died of sarcoma at his home in Topanga, California.
