Biography
Daniel Pearl is an American cinematographer. He studied at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Radio, Film and Television and a Master of Arts in Communication (Film). He met director Tobe Hooper while working in a film lab there, leading to his first feature credit as director of photography on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974).
Pearl has photographed numerous feature films, with many credits in the horror genre. These include the 2003 remake of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007), Friday the 13th (2009), The Boy (2016) and Mom and Dad (2017). He has also worked extensively in music videos, shooting more than 400, and over 250 commercials. Pearl is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and received the first MTV Video Music Award for cinematography, for "Every Breath You Take".
