Biography
Daniel Petrie Jr. is a Canadian-American screenwriter, producer and director. He is the son of film director Daniel Petrie and producer Dorothea G. Petrie.
His screenplay and story credits on Beverly Hills Cop (1984) earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay, shared with Danilo Bach. Other writing credits include The Big Easy (1986), Shoot to Kill (1988) and Turner & Hooch (1989). He also directed and co-wrote Toy Soldiers (1991) and In the Army Now (1994). Petrie served as president of the Writers Guild of America, West from 1997 to 1999 and again from 2004 to 2006.
