Biography

Dave Freeman was a British film and television writer, working chiefly in comedy. Born David Freeman in London on 22 August 1922, he died in London on 28 March 2005.

He wrote for numerous comedians during the Golden Age of British television, including long-running collaborations with Benny Hill on The Benny Hill Show and related series. Freeman contributed an episode to the series The Avengers (1961) and wrote the screenplays for the feature films Carry On Behind (1975) and Carry On Columbus (1992).

He also wrote several stage farces, including A Bedfull of Foreigners, which enjoyed an 18-month West End run. His son Greg Freeman worked with him on episodes of the sitcom Keep It in the Family.
