Biography
David A. Hughes is an English composer and musician. Born in 1960, he began his career as a keyboardist in post-punk and electronic bands in the Merseyside scene, including Dalek I Love You and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, before moving into film and television scoring from the mid-1980s.
He is credited as composer or co-composer on films including Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), The Bachelor (1999), C.H.U.D. (1984, as Cooper Hughes), Bob the Butler (2005), Chain of Fools (2001) and New Best Friend (2002). Television work includes Hogfather (2007) and The Colour of Magic (2008). Until 1999 he frequently collaborated with John Murphy; thereafter he worked solo. He has also produced independent films through Red Union Films.
