Biography
David Boeddinghaus is an American pianist and composer. He studied piano in his hometown of New York City and graduated in 1983 from Indiana University with a master’s degree in classical performance. Shortly afterwards he moved to New Orleans, where he joined singer and bandleader Banu Gibson as her band pianist and music director, a role he continues to hold.
Boeddinghaus has performed widely with Gibson at concerts, festivals and jazz parties. He has also appeared with the Boston Pops, on A Prairie Home Companion and at the Hollywood Bowl, and accompanied Leon Redbone on The Tonight Show. He served as musical director and pianist for the 1995 documentary Crumb and as music director and pianist for the stage musical Looking for Josephine.
