Biography
David Bowers is a British animator, film director and screenwriter. Born in Cheshire, England, he studied fine art at Chester School of Art and animation at West Surrey College of Art and Design. His first credited work was as an inbetweener on Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988). He subsequently worked at Cosgrove Hall on television series including Danger Mouse and Duckula, and at Amblimation on features such as An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (1991) and Balto (1995).
Bowers moved to DreamWorks Animation and later collaborated with Aardman Animations, contributing storyboards to Chicken Run (2000) and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005). He co-directed his first feature, Flushed Away (2006), with Sam Fell. Subsequent directing credits include Astro Boy (2009), Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (2011), Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (2012) and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul (2017). He has received BAFTA nominations for his work.
