Biography
David Dukes was an American character actor. Born in San Francisco in 1945, he trained at the American Conservatory Theater and appeared in dozens of stage productions before making his Broadway debut. He maintained a career spanning film, television and theatre until his death in 2000.
Dukes appeared in 35 films, including Gods and Monsters (1998) as David Lewis, A Little Romance (1979) and Fled (1996). On television he had recurring or guest roles in series such as Law & Order, Dawson's Creek and 7th Heaven, and starred in the miniseries The Winds of War (1983) and War and Remembrance (1988). He received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his performance in the HBO film The Josephine Baker Story (1991). His stage work included a notable portrayal in the Broadway production of Bent.
