Biography
David Eggby is an English-born Australian cinematographer. Born in London in 1950, he moved to Melbourne as a child. He began his career as a photographer with the Royal Australian Navy before working for Australian television production company Crawford Productions on series such as Homicide and Matlock Police.
Eggby made his feature film debut as director of photography on Mad Max (1979). He went on to shoot numerous films including Quigley Down Under (1990), Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993), Dragonheart (1996), Blue Streak (1999), Pitch Black (2000), Scooby-Doo (2002), EuroTrip (2004), The Marine (2006) and Riddick (2013). He has received multiple awards from the Australian Cinematographers Society, including Cinematographer of the Year in 2001 for Pitch Black, and was inducted into the ACS Hall of Fame in 2012.
