Biography
David Elstein is a British television producer and director. After graduating from Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge with a double first in History, he joined the BBC as a trainee in 1964. He worked on current affairs programmes including Panorama and The Money Programme.
Elstein produced and directed episodes of the documentary series The World at War (1973–1974). He later became editor of This Week for Thames Television and served as its Director of Programmes from 1986. In the 1990s he was head of programming at BSkyB and chief executive of Channel 5, which he launched in 1997.
