Biography
David Gamble (24 June 1955 – 12 June 2026) was a British film editor. He was born in Derry, Northern Ireland, and read ecology and biology at Edinburgh University before entering television.
Gamble's feature credits as editor include Shakespeare in Love (1998), Veronica Guerin (2003) and Shopgirl (2005). He received an Academy Award nomination and won the BAFTA Award for Best Editing for Shakespeare in Love. Earlier work included assistant editing on Paperhouse (1988) and The Tall Guy (1989), and editing on television series and dramas such as Tales of the City (1993).
He later taught editing at film schools and universities including the National Film and Television School and Goldsmiths, University of London. He was married to Alex Mackie.
