Biography
David Hemmings (1941–2003) was an English actor, director and producer. He began his career as a boy soprano in operatic roles and appeared in films as a child actor from the mid-1950s. He trained briefly at the Epsom School of Art after his voice changed.
Hemmings achieved international recognition for his leading role as the fashion photographer Thomas in Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blow-Up (1966). He went on to appear in films including Barbarella (1968), Deep Red (1975), Gladiator (2000) as Cassius, Spy Game (2001) and Gangs of New York (2002). In the 1970s he co-founded the Hemdale Film Corporation and later directed episodes of television series such as The A-Team.
