Biography
David Lester is a director and assistant director based in Toronto, Ontario. He has worked on the television series The Handmaid's Tale (2017–2025) in multiple capacities, including as director of one episode in 2025, second unit director, associate producer on numerous episodes, and in various assistant director roles from the first season onwards.
He directed the short films Frozen Marbles (2014), which won Best Direction at the Lakeshorts International Film Festival, and Alison (2016), selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick after festival screenings in Canada. His latest short, Undelivered, starring Ann Dowd and Hilary McCormack, is scheduled for release in 2025.
