Biography
David Stephen Mitchell is an English novelist and screenwriter. He was born on 12 January 1969 in Southport, Lancashire, and studied English and American literature at the University of Kent, where he also completed an MA in comparative literature.
Mitchell has published nine novels, two of which—number9dream (2001) and Cloud Atlas (2004)—were shortlisted for the Booker Prize. His screen credits include writing for the film Cloud Atlas (2012) and the series Sense8 (2015–2018) and Pachinko (2022), as well as co-writing The Matrix Resurrections (2021). He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2013.
