Biography
David Newell is an American actor best known for portraying Mr. McFeely, the speedy delivery man, on the children's television series Mister Rogers' Neighborhood from its debut in 1968 until 2001. He also worked for many years in the public relations department of Fred Rogers Productions.
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Newell began his career in theatre at the Pittsburgh Playhouse before joining the production of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood initially as a public relations manager and production assistant. He appeared as himself in the 2018 documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor? and had an uncredited cameo in the 2019 film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Newell toured promoting the series until his retirement from those appearances in 2015 and received a Gold Circle honour from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
