Biography
David Sherwin (1942–2018) was a British screenwriter. Educated at Tonbridge School and briefly at Oxford, he is best known for his screenplays for three films directed by Lindsay Anderson and starring Malcolm McDowell as Mick Travis: if.... (1968), O Lucky Man! (1973) and Britannia Hospital (1982). The first of these originated from an earlier script, Crusaders, which Sherwin wrote with John Howlett.
Sherwin received a BAFTA nomination for the screenplay of if..... He also contributed uncredited rewrites to Sunday Bloody Sunday (1971) and wrote the television film Wet Gold (1984). In 1996 he published the memoir Going Mad in Hollywood: And Life with Lindsay Anderson.
