Biography
David Trachtenberg is a film and television editor. Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, he studied film at Temple University and drumming at the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood. His career began with a summer internship at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, after which he worked in commercial post-production houses on campaigns for brands including Nike, Google and Ford.
Trachtenberg’s first feature credit was as editor on Casa de Mi Padre (2012). He went on to edit Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015), which premiered at Sundance and earned him an Eddie nomination, and The Current War (2017). He has also edited episodes of series including the pilot of The Boys (2019), Shadow and Bone (2021) and The Offer (2022). In 2016 he was inducted into the American Cinema Editors.
He served as co-editor, with Stefan Grube, on Predator: Badlands (2025), directed by his brother Dan Trachtenberg.
