Biography
David Weisman (1942–2019) was an American film producer, graphic artist and author. He produced Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985), which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, and was involved in the earlier independent feature Ciao! Manhattan (1972), which he co-produced and co-directed.
Weisman attended Syracuse University’s School of Fine Arts before leaving to work in film posters in Rome. He later produced the English-language version of Shogun Assassin (1980) and collaborated with Leonard Schrader on several projects, including the documentary The Killing of America (1981). He also directed short documentaries related to Kiss of the Spider Woman in 2008. Weisman was the brother of film director Sam Weisman.
