Biography
David Z. Weinstein is a writer whose credits include the original screenplay for the 1986 film Big Trouble in Little China, written with Gary Goldman. W. D. Richter received an adaptation credit for the version that reached the screen, directed by John Carpenter.
Weinstein and Goldman had previously written episodes for the television series Fame and Hart to Hart. The Writers Guild of America awarded them the "written by" credit for the film following a dispute over the rewrite.
