Biography
Derek Hinkey is a Native American actor of the Fort McDermitt Paiute and Shoshone Tribes. From Nevada, he began his career as a professional boxer with a record of nine wins and three losses before transitioning to acting around 2020. He has also worked as a model and stuntman.
Hinkey is known for his roles as Hank Spears in the 2025 film Americana, Papago Scout in Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 (2024), Red Feather in the 2025 series American Primeval, and Sheldon 'Shorty' Bowlegs in season three of Dark Winds (2025). He has appeared in other television series including Walker: Independence and Django.
