Biography
Derek Vanlint (7 November 1932 – 23 February 2010) was a British-born Canadian cinematographer and director. He worked primarily on television commercials and collaborated extensively with Ridley Scott on advertising projects before moving into features.
Vanlint served as director of photography on Scott's Alien (1979), earning a nomination for Best Cinematography from the British Society of Cinematographers. He was also cinematographer on Dragonslayer (1981) and handled additional photography on X-Men (2000). In 2000 he directed and photographed the feature The Spreading Ground.
