Biography
Derica Cole Washington is a costume designer whose credits include the films Zola (2020), House Party (2023) and The American Society of Magical Negroes (2024), and the series Twenties (2020–2021), True Story (2021) and Reasonable Doubt (2022). She is credited as costume designer on the forthcoming film By Any Means (2026).
Washington holds an MA in Visual Culture: Costume Studies from New York University and a BA in Art History. She began her career assisting Ruth E. Carter on projects including Selma (2014) and Black Panther (2018). She received a Costume Designers Guild Award nomination for excellence in contemporary film for Zola and has designed Super Bowl commercials.
