Biography
Dermot Power is an Irish concept artist and illustrator. Born on 22 July 1967 in County Waterford, he began his career as a comic book artist for the British anthology 2000 AD, contributing to stories such as Judge Dredd and Sláine.
He moved into film in the late 1990s, working as a concept artist and character designer on Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002), Batman Begins (2005), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), V for Vendetta (2006) and Ready Player One (2018). Power served as character and costume designer on A Christmas Carol (2009). He has maintained long collaborations with production designer Stuart Craig on the Harry Potter films and Fantastic Beasts series, and with director Tim Burton on projects including Alice in Wonderland (2010), Dark Shadows (2012) and Dumbo (2019).
