Biography
Desreta Jackson is a Virgin Islander actress, producer and entrepreneur. She was born in Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and moved to the United States as a child, settling in Los Angeles.
Jackson made her screen debut as Young Celie in Steven Spielberg’s 1985 film The Color Purple. She later appeared as Teenage Girl #1 in the 1992 comedy Sister Act. After early roles in film and television, she moved into producing and directing, creating series such as The Desreta Jackson Show and California Soul TV Show.
She is the founder of the Black Silk hair products line and has received awards including a 2011 Prestige Award for her contribution to African American history.
