Biography
Diana Son is an American playwright, television writer and producer. She studied dramatic literature at New York University and began her career as a playwright; her play Stop Kiss premiered Off-Broadway at the Public Theater in 1998.
Son has worked in television since 2000, starting as a story editor on The West Wing. Her credits as writer and producer include Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2004–2008), Southland (2010), Blue Bloods (2010–2014), American Crime (2015–2016) and Dirty John (2018). She served as co-showrunner on the first season of 13 Reasons Why (2017) and has written for Butterfly (2025). She has taught playwriting at Yale University and New York University, and in 2025 received the Writers Guild of America East’s Richard B. Jablow Award for devoted service to the guild.
