Biography

Diederick Santer is a British television producer. He was born on 3 July 1969 in Cambridge, England. He graduated from the University of Leeds and began his career in the mid-1990s as a script reader and editor before joining BBC Drama in 2000.

Santer produced the BBC series Cutting It (2002–2004) and episodes of the anthology ShakespeaRe-Told (2005), including adaptations of Much Ado About Nothing and The Taming of the Shrew. He served as executive producer of EastEnders from October 2006 to March 2010. He later produced the 2006 adaptation of Jane Eyre.

In 2010 he founded the production company Lovely Day, which produced Grantchester. He was chief executive of Kudos from 2015 to 2019 and chief creative officer of BritBox International from 2021 until stepping down from the full-time role in early 2023. He is the son of the late Bishop Mark Santer.
