Biography
Ding Weimin is a Chinese actress. Born on 24 November 1921 in Jinan, Shandong province, she joined an anti-Japanese propaganda team in 1937 and later studied acting at the Sichuan Jiang'an National Drama Academy. She began working in film in the late 1940s, joining the Shanghai Film Studio actors' troupe in 1949, moving to the Beijing Film Studio in 1955 and the Xi'an Film Studio in 1958.
Her film credits include New Year Sacrifice (1956), in which she played Dasao Ruan, and Old Well (1987), in which she played Third Aunt. She voiced Songlian's mother in Zhang Yimou's Raise the Red Lantern (1991).
