Biography
Dominique Blanchar (also credited as Dominique Blanchard) was a French stage, television and film actress. She was born Dominique Marie Thérèse Blanchard on 2 June 1927 in Paris and died there on 19 November 2018. The daughter of actors Pierre Blanchar and Marthe Vinot, she began her career in the late 1940s and remained active until the mid-2000s.
Blanchar appeared in both French- and English-language productions. Her film roles include Marie Vetsera in The Secret of Mayerling (1949), Monique in Decision Before Dawn (1951), Giulia in L'Avventura (1960) and La mère de Louis in Strange Affair (1981). She was married to the Belgian actor Jean Servais. On stage she won two Molière Awards for Best Supporting Actress, in 1997 for Tout comme il faut and in 2000 for Les Femmes savantes.
