Biography
Dominique Morisseau is an American playwright, screenwriter and actress. She trained at the University of Michigan, where she began writing plays.
She is the author of the Detroit Project cycle of plays, comprising Detroit ’67 (2013), Paradise Blue and Skeleton Crew. Other plays include Pipeline and Sunset Baby. She wrote the book for the Broadway musical Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations, which opened in 2019.
Morisseau worked as a story editor and co-producer on the television series Shameless for its first seven seasons. She has received awards including a MacArthur Fellowship in 2018 and an Obie Award.
