Biography
Don Fairservice (1932–2024) was a British film editor and director. He began in amateur theatre as an actor and set designer before training as a film editor at the BBC in 1961, where he worked until 1982 and then continued as a freelance editor until 2012.
He edited more than 40 films and television series. His credits include Beautiful Thing (1996), Emma (1996) and Chattahoochee (1989). He won a BAFTA TV Award for Film Editor in 1989 for the Channel 4 series A Very British Coup (1988). Fairservice also directed films and documentaries, and published the book Film Editing: History, Theory and Practice in 2001.
