Biography
Don Houghton was a British television screenwriter and producer. Born in Paris to Scottish parents, he began writing for radio in 1951 and moved into film and television in 1958.
He wrote the Doctor Who serials Inferno (1970) and The Mind of Evil (1971). In the 1970s he was a primary writer for Hammer Films, with credits including Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972), The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973) and The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires (1974). Houghton created and wrote for the soap opera Take the High Road (1980) and contributed to series including The Professionals (1977) and Sapphire & Steel.
