Biography
Donald George Ingalls (29 July 1918 – 10 March 2014) was an American screenwriter and television producer. Born in Humboldt, Nebraska, he served as a bomber pilot in the United States Army Air Forces during the Second World War before joining the Los Angeles Police Department, where he met Gene Roddenberry.
Over a career of more than 35 years, Ingalls wrote scripts for numerous television series, including Adam-12, Bonanza, The Big Valley, Fantasy Island, Gunsmoke, Have Gun – Will Travel, Honey West, Police Story, Star Trek and The Virginian. He also worked as a producer on series such as Fantasy Island and T. J. Hooker, and wrote the screenplay for the film Airport 1975 (1974). For Star Trek, he wrote the episode "The Alternative Factor" and provided the story for "A Private Little War", which he credited under the pseudonym Jud Crucis after revisions by Roddenberry.
