Biography
Donal Donnelly (1931–2010) was an actor known for his work in theatre, film and television. Born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, to Irish parents, he was raised in Dublin and trained at the Gate Theatre there. He made his professional stage debut in 1952 and appeared in numerous productions, including the premiere of Brian Friel's Philadelphia, Here I Come! (1964), for which he received a Tony Award nomination on its Broadway transfer.
His film roles included Perce Carter in I'm All Right Jack (1959), Tom in The Knack... and How to Get It (1965), O'Connor in Waterloo (1970), Freddy Malins in The Dead (1987) and Archbishop Gilday in The Godfather Part III (1990). He also appeared in television series such as Law & Order. Donnelly was married to Patricia 'Patsy' Porter and lived at various times in Ireland, the UK and the United States.
